Max AI: A Software Testing Agent Built for Smarter Manual Testing
Rethinking the Way We Test

When we started working on Max, our AI-powered testing agent, our goal was straightforward: build a smart, purpose-built solution that would genuinely help our manual testers do their jobs better. We weren't looking for a generic off-the-shelf tool — we wanted something tailor-made for the real-world challenges our team faces every day when testing websites, e-commerce platforms, and a wide range of other web-based digital products built for our clients.
With two decades of experience in software testing, we've developed a deep understanding of what quality assurance actually demands at a professional level. We've seen the edge cases, the repetitive workflows, the time-consuming tasks that slow testers down, and the gaps that traditional tools often leave behind. That experience became the foundation for Max: an AI agent designed to help execute functional tests, assist in writing test cases, and provide a faster, more efficient path through the repetitive work that makes up so much of a tester's day.
Building a Software Testing Agent From Scratch
As with any product, the hardest part wasn't writing the code, it was figuring out exactly what to build. Defining a solid set of functional requirements means thinking carefully about how testers actually interact with the front end of a product in the real world: what they look for, what slows them down, and where automation can meaningfully help without getting in the way.
Our process started with a thorough review of the most common and repetitive tests our team runs on every web project. From that analysis, we identified patterns, built a library of standardized test cases, and designed Max to follow those cases consistently across every project it touches. The result is an agent that brings structure and repeatability to testing workflows that have historically relied purely on manual effort.
Our original goals for Max were with writing test cases, providing help with executing repetitive tasks and broadening testing coverage on web pages. In addition to that we built our agent to help us with accessibility testing.
Integrating Max Into Our Existing Testing Platform
Rather than building Max as a standalone product, we made a deliberate decision to integrate it directly into our existing Test Platform. Our design and development teams worked closely together to create an interface that feels native to the tools our testers already use every day.
This approach matters because context-switching is a hidden productivity killer. When testers have to jump between multiple platforms to do their job, they lose time, focus, and momentum. By embedding Max directly into our ecosystem, testers can access AI-powered assistance without ever leaving their familiar working environment.

A Focused AI Testing Solution
There's no shortage of software testing tools on the market. New platforms emerge regularly, each promising to revolutionize QA. But our intention with Max was never to compete in that space or to build another SaaS product for the masses. Instead, Max is the culmination of twenty years of testing experience spanning hundreds of digital properties. By leveraging this institutional knowledge, our agent handles the heavy lifting of the quality assurance process, delivering comprehensive coverage and high-quality defect reporting that allows development teams to focus on building rather than debugging.
How Does Max AI Work?
Max is designed to be simple to start and powerful at scale. Here's how it works:
- Single URL: The tester provides one starting point: the domain they want to test.
- AI Crawls the Domain: Max automatically discovers and maps all linked pages across the site, building a complete picture of the web property.
- Optional Advanced Configuration: Testers can enable additional options for deeper crawl behavior and customized test case generation, tailoring the agent's approach to the specific project.
- Multi-Page Testing: Once the crawl is complete, Max executes its test cases across the entire site, checking for broken links, missing or broken images, accessibility issues, and a range of other common defects.

Streamlining the Workflow: Automated Bug Detection and Ticket Creation
One of Max's most valuable features is what happens after it finds an issue. When Max identifies a possible bug on a page, it doesn't just flag it and move on. It captures a screenshot of the affected area, generates a clear written description of the issue, and automatically drafts a ticket inside our bug tracking system.
From there, our project lead reviews the drafted tickets and decides how to proceed: publishing and assigning a ticket to the relevant developer, or discarding it if it turns out to be a duplicate or a false positive. The result is a streamlined, end-to-end workflow that reduces the manual overhead involved in bug reporting and keeps development teams moving faster.
Max AI represents what we believe software testing should look like: intelligent, efficient, and built by people who genuinely understand software testing . It's not a replacement for skilled testers but an extension of our team, it's the extra tool we always wished we had.
